Meet our Board of Directors

Andy Poole, President/Founder

As a PE teacher in 2014 I started my first mountain bike club with a small group of students at my rural school in Eastport. Not very experienced, but learning as we went; we adopted the Sprockids program as our guide. The goal was to get students in our small school active, outdoors and also to double as a way to build positive relationships with students. Since then we’ve grown from scavenging old bikes for repairs to offering programs for 100s of youth from 5 years old to 17, helping other communities get started too, and with tons of awesome bike experiences in between. The Adventure Bike Project is the next step: using our programs to grow leadership opportunities, work experience and adventure!

Pam Thornhill, Secretary

As community recreation director, I wanted to bring more opportunities for children to be active, especially outside. Working with the Town of Glovertown we started our first kids program in 2016 and saw how popular it was, and how fast it grew. We added more programs and came up with new ways to engage even more youth with bikes. Glovertown like many rural NL towns, is an outdoor community; people love walking, hiking, fishing and being in nature. As more kids choose to ride their bikes, we now see more adults choosing them too.

Jody Tiller, Treasurer

Jody, a PE teacher by trade, has been riding for 40 years.  He recently got back in the saddle thanks to his good buddy Andy.  Jody rides mostly for fitness but also enjoys taking rides with his family.  He’s a certified Sprockids facilitator and helps out with the Glovertown clubs and has also led Sprockids clubs at his school.
