We build rural Newfoundland biking programs to empower youth through cycling adventures. Located in Glovertown serving all local communities in our region.

Focused on youth, leadership, personal growth, and an active life outdoors.

At ABP we promote an active lifestyle for kids and youth through cycling: get off the couch and onto bikes! Since 2014 we’ve offered FREE youth rides, adventure bikepacking trips, teaching programs, and more with the support of generous partners.

We’re a small but mighty non-profit in rural Newfoundland, Canada.

2024 Programs

  • Adventure Bikepacking

    Eligible: Grade 7-12

After a winter of learning about bikes and safe riding practices, students are rewarded with adventure riding excursions! We have two new rides in development for spring/summer 2024, check back soon for more info. Follow our Facebook and Instagram for announcements.

  • Mechanics

    Eligibile: Grade 7-12

Winter & Fall 2024: students meet every Monday for 5-6 weeks with a different bike part and tool demonstrated each week. Taught by ABP President, Andy Poole, students receive hands-on instruction and the chance to practice bike maintenance in a safe, supervised environment. Our students learn mechanics, problem solving, and how to work within a group.

  • Youth Employment

    Eligible: Grade 10-12

NEW to ABP in 2024! Youth biking summer employment is an excellent opportunity for young people to earn money, stay active, and build new skills. Our summer students learn the basics of bike mechanics, how to create and lead cycling programs, and customer service. Watch our Facebook for summer positions and how to apply!

  • ABP Team Racing

Youth mountain bike racing is storming the island with heart-pounding action and epic trails! Many of our youth leaders from ABP are stepping into the racing world and showing us what they’re capable of.

Youth mountain bike races bring together young riders to compete in off-road cycling across rugged and varied terrain. On forest trails, dirt paths, or specially designed courses featuring a mix of obstacles and steep climbs or descents.

We support our youth competitors through covering race entries, providing bikes and gear, and offering transportation where available.

  • Adventure Biking JR

    Eligible: Grade K-6

In partnership with the Town of Glovertown, the Junior program offers biking adventures (including Sprockids) for kids up to Grade 6. Please contact Pam Thornhill (Glovertown Recreation Director) for more information and to sign up. pamthornhill@eastlink.ca
